Chapter 20, Page 27
Hey folks, sorry for the late page, I just kind of managed my time poorly yesterday and didn't get it finished. But I have a couple of things to note this week:
1) I've updated the Characters page and added 11 new characters! Five of which are animals, lol. The characters are Takeo, Alex and Antonio (Gabe's friends), Scarfs and Lavender (dogs), Sam, Dillinger, Johanna, Peeko and Kiki (parrots), Cookie and Jellybean (rats).
Hazard still does not have anything written up because I forgot! Yay! (In all seriousness I'm being very careful with his bio.)
2) The ads are temporarily(?) gone. I was messing with them to try to get them to be smaller, since supposedly I'm supposed to be able to control their sizes, but they've always just kind of taken whatever space they want on the page (and often will serve an entirely wrong shape of ad). I've tried using their controls to limit the sizes, and they've never worked. I haven't really had time to sit down and try to fix them (I've tried more than once but never had the time to see it through), but since I started looking at the site again to put up the character pages, I decided to fix a few things here and there.
However, in my testing, Google decided I was doing something suspicious, and limited my account until they can review it, lol.
I'd like the ads to be there, but not as obnoxiously big as they'd been before. I'm aware google can close your ads account at the drop of a hat, so... kind of expected it once I started poking at them. It's possible google won't let me have them anymore, because their customer support is non-existent. Full disclosure: the ads haven't brought in enough revenue for google to even let me withdraw once, the minimum being $100 USD, so the plan was kind of to let them get to that point and then remove them. If I can actually resize them and get them to a point where I'm happy with them, they may stay longer than that, but I haven't really liked them so far.
3) I'm working on making the Archive page more mobile-friendly. It's always been kind of terrible to view on a phone, and I've figured out what I need to change to fix it. It is still largely the same - I don't mind the fact that links to pages are only titles, and titles are only vague chapter numbers. But page titles being cut off because there wasn't enough space for the whole thing should be fixed. I'm going to be keeping my eye out for other little things that need to be fixed, particularly for mobile, but I think that's the biggest thing right now.
