A well-liked scientist in Amanda's lab, Dr. Gertrude Willows is Dr. Nagano's top assistant. Other than Dr. Callinway, she's the only assistant to be allowed to sit in on department head meetings. Because of her prowess in her field, she's often seen as a second head for the physics department.

Dr. Willows is one of the few scientists who doesn't let Amanda push her around. She isn't afraid to call Amanda out when she thinks she's crossed the line, which is quite often; but unlike Dr. Johansen, Gertrude is not looking to pick a fight with Amanda. While they don't particularly like each other, Amanda respects that Gertrude is always prepared to defend her stance with hard facts.
